The B Dasher (Bダッシュ B Dasshu) is a kart in the Mario Kart series. In its debut, in Mario Kart DS, it was one of Mario's three Karts alongside the Standard MR and the Shooting Star. It has since appeared in later games in the series.
Description[]
The kart resembles a 1960s Formula 1 car, its white livery harking back to the 1967 Honda RA300, the first car from Japan to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix. It also includes a small, light blue window shield. It is also equipped with a large, gray engine block and four exhaust pipes.
A similar kart appears in Mario Kart Wii, called the Sprinter, but is also known as B Dasher Mk 2 outside of North American.
The window shield is absent in the in-game model for Mario Kart DS for some odd reason, but it is present in the game's artworks and other entries since Mario Kart 7. In Mario Kart Tour, the B Dasher uses the Pipe Frame's tires.
The name of the kart is likely a reference to old racing games back in the late 1900s, a good example is Super Mario Kart, as the B button was used to accelerate.

History[]
Mario Kart DS[]

In Mario Kart DS, the B Dasher is all-around average in-terms of stats, with no major advantages or disadvantages, with the exception of Items, which are filled to the max.
Its speed is shared with Daisy's Power Flower, its acceleration is shared with Peach's Royale, its mass weight is equivalent to Luigi's Streamliner (making those two the 6th heaviest karts in the game). Its handling and drift attributes are shared with Waluigi's Zipper.

During gameplay, only Mario can use this kart. However, if the player can complete all Nitro or Retro Grand Prix cups in the 150cc engine class, Daisy and Waluigi can use this kart (if they have been unlocked via 50cc and 100cc respectively) when every character can pick between seven different karts. To let any other characters use it, complete all cups in Mirror Mode.
During Grand Prix or VS races, a CPU-controlled Mario is likely to be seen driving his B Dasher over his other karts, the Standard MR and Shooting Star.
The B Dasher in this game is a lot more iconic than its later appearances, as it serves as the cover art for Mario Kart DS.
Mario Kart 7[]

After not appearing In Mario Kart Wii, in Mario Kart 7, it is an unlockable kart part, having very little changes to its appearance from its original iteration.
The B Dasher is tied with the Blue Seven and Bolt Buggy for having the lowest acceleration of all kart bodies. Fortunately, it's tied with the Blue Seven, Bruiser, and Zucchini for having the highest speed of all kart bodies, and it's the fastest kart body to have a positive handling boost.
A CPU-controlled Mario is more likely to be seen driving on this body.
In competitive races, especially online multiplayer, the B Dasher is commonly used with Metal Mario with the Red Monster tires and either the Flower Glider or Peach Parasol, due to its high speed and off-road abilities, and can even guarantee making the huge shortcut in GCN Dino Dino Jungle. This kart combination is even commonly used for many World Records in Time Trials.
Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
The B Dasher once again returns in Mario Kart 8 as one of the vehicles in The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8 downloadable content pack.
When it comes to stats, it is good in speed and weight, but bad in acceleration and traction. It shares the same exact stats with the Mach 8, Sports Coupe, Circuit Special, Gold Standard, and P-Wing.
Mario Kart Tour[]
The B Dasher is a High-End kart in Mario Kart Tour. Its design is quite different from its previous installments, and it is equipped with the Pipe Frame's tires. It was introduced in the New York Tour.
The B Dasher gets several variations, such as the Kabuki Dasher, Black B Dasher, Red B Dasher and Black Kabuki Dasher.
