The B Dasher (Bダッシュ B Dasshu) is a kart appearing in the Mario Kart series. The kart resembles a 1960s Formula 1 car, with a white paint job, and a red stripe going around the kart. It also includes a small, light blue window shield. It is also equipped with a large, gray engine block and four exhaust pipes.
A similar kart appears in Mario Kart Wii, called the Sprinter, but is also known as B Dasher Mk 2 outside of North American.
The name of the kart is likely a reference to old racing games back in the late 1900s, a good example is Super Mario Kart, as the B button was used to accelerate.
History
Mario Kart DS
The B Dasher makes its first appearance in Mario Kart DS. This is one of Mario's karts, the others being the Standard MR and Shooting Star. It is one of the 16 karts in the game that is available from the start.
During gameplay, only Mario can use this kart. However, if the player can complete all Nitro or Retro Grand Prix cups in the 150cc engine class, Daisy and Waluigi can use this kart (if they have been unlocked via 50cc and 100cc respectively) when every character can pick between seven different karts. To let any other characters use it, complete all cups in Mirror Mode.
The B Dasher is all-around average in-terms of stats, with no major advantages or disadvantages, with the exception of Items, whcih are filled to the max.
Its speed is shared with Daisy's Power Flower, its acceleration is shared with Peach's Royale, its mass weight is equivalent to Luigi's Streamliner (making those two the 6th heaviest karts in the game). Its handling and drift attributes are shared with Waluigi's Zipper.
During Grand Prix or VS races, a CPU-controlled Mario is more likely to be seen driving his B Dasher over his other karts, the Standard MR and Shooting Star.
The B Dasher in this game is much more iconic than its later appearances, as it serves as the cover art for Mario Kart DS.
Mario Kart 7
It reappears in Mario Kart 7 as an unlockable kart part, having little changes to its appearance from its original iteration.
The B Dasher is tied with the Blue Seven and Bolt Buggy for having the lowest acceleration of all kart bodies. Fortunately, it's tied with the Blue Seven, Bruiser, and Zucchini for having the highest speed of all kart bodies, and it's the fastest kart body to have a positive handling boost.
A CPU-controlled Mario is more likely to be seen driving on this body.
Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
The B Dasher once again returns in Mario Kart 8 as one of the vehicles in The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8 downloadable content pack.
When it comes to stats, it is good in speed and weight, but bad in acceleration and traction. It shares the same exact stats with the Mach 8, Sports Coupe, Circuit Special, Gold Standard, and P-Wing.
