Evil Bats flying at Mario.
Bats are creatures found soely in Mario Kart 64. They only appear in Banshee Boardwalk and come flying at players through the coffins and the wind ducts. They usually come in swarms and can prove to be a major hinderance to players. Avoiding them however isn't particulaly challenging. In the Mario Kart DS remake of this course, Bats have been replaced with Swoopers.
