Battle Course 1 is one of the four battle stages in Super Mario Kart. This battle stage makes a retro appearance in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Super Mario Kart[]
The track is a square-shaped field, with some pipes and walls separating the inner, middle, and outer square, making a concentric square patterns. It also has many corners jutting out from the outsides, leading into hidden corners. Driving inside them can lead to attack by opponents, as there is only one exit in all except one. The theme is taken from the Donut Plains courses.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
Battle Course 1 makes a return in the Nintendo Switch port of Mario Kart 8 as a retro battle stage. Unlike the original, the ground is paved instead of being ordinary dirt. There are now some humps that allows players to trick off of as well as a gliding pad on the south path and ordinary Dash Panels on all the other paths, all four ramps pointing towards the centre. The four outer paths have been centered and their width is slightly wider. The north, east, and west paths have been completed as well to match the south path. The paths are colour-coded, with the west path being green, the south path being blue, the east path being yellow, and the north path being red. Additionally, the yellow quadrant is now the northeast quadrant rather than being the southeast quadrant, while the blue quadrant is in the southeast corner rather than the northeast, and the green quadrant is moved from the southeast portion to the southwest portion of the course. The square dirt puddle in the centre now has grass except four paths in a plus-shaped formation, which are made of wood. The paths intersect in the middle, their intersection being under a starting banner-esque structure with a metal plate on each side. The inner guard rails have had their design changed to resemble a real-life barrier and can now be driven on.
