Although Mario Kart: Double Dash!! has proven that Birdos can spit pink Yoshi Eggs, most Birdo Eggs are non-spotted. A Birdo will spit Birdo Eggs out of its cannon-like snout, and use the eggs like bullets. The player can Jump on these to get a free ride. These look just like plain white eggs.
In Mario Kart: Double Dash!! these eggs were provided as an alternate to Yoshi Eggs. Like Yoshi Eggs, their homing capabilities are amazing and release three random items, which could be a Bob-omb, Star, Mushroom, Green Shell, Red Shell, Lightning, Fake Item Box, or Banana Peel. At the bottom of the screen, you can see if an egg is near you. Sometimes if an egg hits you, it could be helpful. Only Birdo can use the Birdo Egg (Except for Petey Piranha and King Boo, they can use any special item, but they can't use the alternate variant).
In Mario Kart Tour the Birdo egg was added in the Holiday Tour as Birdo's special item but this time it just looks like a plain white egg.
Although Petey Piranha and King Boo can use all Special Items, they can't use Birdo Eggs and Luigi's green Fireballs because they work the same way as Yoshi Eggs and Mario's Fireballs.
