An iconic opponent from the Japanese Namco Galaga series, Boss Galaga (ボスギャラガ), also sometimes simply referred to as Galaga (ギャラガ) is both Pac-Man and his lovely wife's exclusive Special Item in the first two Mario Kart Arcade games. In Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, any character can utilize the flying spacecraft to hit other racers.

In all 3 games, the Boss Galaga requires unlocking before it can be used.

Usage[]

Offense[]

After obtaining one of these babies from an Item... hexagon thingy, Ms. Pac-Man and/or Pac-Man, (or if in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX) anyone) can throw the Boss Galaga at the closest kart in front of them. The tracking system will lock onto them, and then deadly rays will shoot from the alien spaceship, wrecking the enemies kart into oblivion (well, not really, but their chances of WINNING are wrecked).

Protection[]

A Star or some other invincibility Item such as a Reflective Shield will offer up a good, solid defense against the Boss Galaga, but if one of these Items isn't on hand, there are not a whole lot of options available to avoid it. Perhaps begging for mercy?

Trivia![]

  • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U most likely popularized the Boss Galaga more as an attack Item. In these two games, it abducts players with its rays and sends them into the sky, after which they disappear in a twinkling spectacle. Beautiful.
