The Brute is Wario's first unique kart in Mario Kart DS, the others being the Standard WR and Dragonfly. It is the successor to the Wario Car from Wario Land 4 and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, as it is heavily based of said vehicle.
Description[]
Wario in his Brute on the Select Kart screen.
The Brute is gray and black in the back, and checkered on the front, and the emblem is put in the front like real cars without license plates. It resembles American sedans from the 1950s.
During gameplay, only Wario can use this kart. However, if the player manages to complete all Nitro or Retro Grand Prix cups, Bowser and Waluigi can use this kart once each character gets to pick from seven different karts. To let any other character use it, complete all cups in Mirror Mode.

Statistics[]
The Brute has a very high speed stat, but average stats across the board otherwise. Due to its high speed potential, decent acceleration, and acceptable Mini-Turbo length for a heavy kart (20th longest in the game), the Brute is arguably the best starting heavy vehicle in the game. It is a solid choice for normal gameplay, particularly for newer players who have not yet unlocked many of the karts in the game.
However, the Brute is never seen in high-level speedruns and Time Trials, as it is almost completely outclassed by the ROB-BLS, which boasts superior metrics in every stat except for drift. Even if the ROB-BLS did not exist, the Brute still would not be used as its Mini-Turbo length is simply too low to maintain boost speed consistently. Its mediocre handling and drift also make it poor at precise cornering, especially on more complex courses.
Its acceleration is shared with R.O.B.'s Standard RB, its weight is equivalent to Donkey Kong's Wildlife (both of which are the lightest karts within the heavyweight class), its handling is shared with Princess Peach's Light Tripper, and its drift is tied with Dry Bones's Dry Bomber.
When Wario is using this kart, its weight total adds up to 67, which is equivalent to Peach's Royale (when used with Peach) and Waluigi's Standard WL (when used with Waluigi).
On a side note, the Brute has the lowest calculated stat of all karts in Mario Kart DS, with a combined total of 301.
Trivia![]
- The Flame Flyer from Mario Kart Wii, the Bruiser from Mario Kart 7 and the Badwagon from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can be considered to be the Brute's successors, due to their similar shape and style, and can be based for Wario, or occasionally used by him.
