The Crazy 8 (also stylized as Crazy Eight) is an item that makes its debut in Mario Kart 8, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Similarly to the Lucky 7 from Mario Kart 7, it spawns eight items that rotate around the player's vehicle, similarly to other multiple items such as Triple Green Shells. The items are the same as the Lucky 7's, being a Banana, Green Shell, Red Shell, Blooper, Mushroom, Star, and a Bob-omb, as well as the addition of a Coin. Much like the Lucky 7, only player-controlled characters can receive this item.

Usage[]

Offense[]

Crazy Eight

Mario using the Crazy 8

The Crazy 8 is generally used offensively, specifically with the Green and Red Shells, Banana, Star, and Bob-omb, each having their respective offensive purposes.

Defense[]

Additionally, the Crazy 8 also has just as equal of defensive uses, though it is just as risky as using it offensively, especially with the inclusions of the Bob-omb and Star. Whilst the other items (except the Coin) can guard the racer, if anyone hits the Bob-omb, all the other items are destroyed too, but a racer who is able to get their hands on the Star can be just as dangerous if not careful.
