The Cucumber (キューカンバー Kyūkanbā) is Yoshi's tertiary Kart in Mario Kart DS, while the other two are the Egg 1 and the Standard YS. While it's Yoshi's slowest Kart, it does make up for this with it's exceptional handling and acceleration. It also has a higher chance of obtaining powerful Items.

This kart also appears in Mario Kart Tour.

Description

The Cucumber is similar to dragster kart, appearing to resemble a green 1930s sandrail. The character's emblem is located on the hood. Despite its name, it isn't actually a cucumber. tehakdf

How to unlock

• Win all cups the 100cc Nitro Grand Prix. However, only Yoshi can use it.
  • Alternatively, the player can complete all cups in the 150cc Nitro or Retro Grand Prix if the player has not done 100cc. This opens up the Cucumber to Luigi and Dry Bones once each character can choose between seven different karts.
• Completing all cups in Mirror Mode opens up the Cucumber to every racer.

The Cucumber offers average speed and weight, excellent acceleration, handling and items stats, and low drift. With these stats, this is one of the karts in the game recommended to use, due to very good acceleration, handling and items stats in-races.

It's weight is equivalent to R.O.B.'s ROB-LGS.

Mario Kart Tour

The Cucumber also appears in Mario Kart Tour as a Super kart. It has Slipstream Plus, which increases the length of and the points earnt from Slipstreams.

There is a variant of the Cucumber known as the Dasher II, which is tan with a green stripe on top. This kart has Dash Panel Plus instead.

Trivia!

• This kart is also very similar to the Classic Dragster in Mario Kart Wii both appearance-wise and stat-wise.
• This kart is also similar to the Zucchini (Gherkin in Europe) from Mario Kart 7 as both are based on tall green vegetables and have similar designs.
  • This kart is also similar to the Mach 8 from Mario Kart 8 as the design looks similar and both karts are generally used by Yoshi, though with totally different color schemes.
