The Daytripper (Royal Racer in PAL regions) is a Medium unlockable Kart in Mario Kart Wii. It is one of the three unlockable karts in the Medium class along with the Super Blooper (Turbo Blooper) and the Sprinter (B Dasher Mk. 2). It resembles a small carriage without a roof, with low speed but impressive Acceleration, Handling, and Mini-Turbo. It is Peach's signature vehicle, and its bike counterpart is the Sugarscoot. Its Small and Large counterparts are the Booster Seat and Offroader, respectively.
It also appears in Mario Kart Tour.
Description[]
The Daytripper takes the look of a small, open-top carriage with a white seat. It has a round front that descends downwards. It has 4 wheels with thin tires, with the rear wheels being larger. The sides bear a royal-style pattern and have wings at the rear. Below the back of the body are two exhaust pipes.
The kart looks similar to the Heart Coach and Bloom Coach in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, especially when Peach or Daisy drives it.

Mario Kart Wii[]
The Daytripper is low on Speed, making it the slowest kart in the Medium class, with the slowest Medium vehicle being the Sugarscoot. Its weight is average though, and the kart has weak drifting. To make up, it has high Acceleration, Handling and Mini-Turbo, and decent Off-Road.
It shares its Speed and Mini-Turbo with the Cheep Charger, its Weight with the Standard Kart M, its Acceleration with the Standard Bike S, its Drift with the Magikruiser, and its Off-Road with the Quacker.

The Daytripper in Mario Kart Tour.
The Daytripper reappears in Mario Kart Tour as of the game's release, classified as a Super Kart. It has Dash Panel Plus, which increases the length of and the points earned from Dash Panel boosts. It reuses Peach's color scheme and is equipped with the Wood Tires from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Overtime, two variants of the Daytripper have since been released: The Sweet Daytripper and the Head Honcho, which have Rocket Start and Mini-Turbo Plus, respectively. Unlike the default Daytripper, these variants are High-End.
Trivia![]
- The Prancer from Mario Kart 8/Deluxe is considered to be the spiritual successor of the Daytripper.
- In Japan and Korea, the Daytripper is known as the Fantasia (ファンタジア; 판타지아), while in the Chinese version, it is known as the Fantasy (幻想曲; Huànxiǎng qǔ). Its French names, Kart Calèche (Québec) and Carrosse Royal (France), directly mean Coach Kart and Royal Carriage, respectively.
- The Daytripper and the Sugarscoot are the only pair of counterparts in which one vehicle is a starter, while the other is unlockable.
- The Female Mii is the only character whose Daytripper has a different-colored body rather than white, the regular body-color of all the other medium characters.
- The Daytripper is the only vehicle in the entire middleweight class to not use Mario's color scheme upon being unlocked. Instead, it uses Peach's color scheme.
- The Daytripper is one of the five vehicles to come in with six of the traditional colors of the rainbow. The other four being the Classic Dragster, Cheep Charger, Honeycoupe, and the Dolphin Dasher.
- If combined with Yoshi, Birdo, or Bowser Jr., it can drift off road.
- Its North American English name references the song "Day Tripper" by the Beatles. In a similar manner, its Spanish name, Dominguero, references part of the song's lyrics ("She was a daytripper, Sunday driver yeah"). The connection between the American English name and the Spanish name goes together really well, respectively referencing the song name and lyrics from the song.
