Dino Dino Jungle is the second track of the Special Cup in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. It reappears as a retro track in Mario Kart 7 as the second track of the Lightning Cup, and in Mario Kart Tour as of the game's release.
It's set in a prehistoric jungle with the track containing some tricky turns, filled with dinosaurs and waterspouts. There is also two bridges and a cave.
Layout[]
Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]
Dino Dino Jungle takes place at a jungle with various dinosaurs living around the area, such as the giant Dino Dino that tries to squish racers by stepping on them, and flying Pterosaurs. Dino Dino Jungle also features several Waterspouts that will launch karts skyward. Dino Dino Jungle shares the same music as DK Mountain, while it has Jazz Samba music.
Racers start somewhere in the middle of the jungle. The track starts with a short straightaway that is a bit wavy, and then there is a sharp left u-turn. Shortly after, there is a right turn, where the Dino Dino can be seen. Racers then go through it whilst avoiding being squished by its big feet. Next is a short tunnel that takes racers to a bridge that goes upwards and curves to the right. There are three different paths to take, where one of them has Dash Panels, but this path is very narrow and therefore racers are more likely to fall off that route.
As the three routes merge racers then go inside a cave that starts off with a left chicane and a right turn. This next section takes racers to a right turn to exit the cave, but the cave itself is quite a challenge as there are holes in the cave where Waterspouts come out, and the side on the right is a potential site where Lakitu will need to pick up racers that fall into it. There is also a shortcut in this section that skips the turn with the Waterspouts. As racers exit the cave they approach a bridge where the Dino Dino may lean its head from, spinning them out when they touch its head. Next is an unstable section with a stone pathway with Waterspouts sprinkled about. This last section starts of with a short right turn and then a sharp left u-turn, and there is just a downhill straightaway to the Finish Line.
Mario Kart 7[]
This track reappears in Mario Kart 7 as the second track of the Lightning Cup. Much of the layout and gimmicks have stayed the same, where notable changes include two added glider pads: one in the cave replacing the shortcut, and one after the last bridge, right before the hairpin curve. Racers can trick off the logs and the incline near the end of the track.
Mario Kart Tour[]
This track reappeared for the second time in Mario Kart Tour. This version is largely based of the Mario Kart 7 version, with the only real differences being higher quality textures and the appearance of the starting post. Also, Waterspouts are no longer harmful and instead racers perform tricks on them as well as getting lifted in the air.
Shortcuts[]
- At the cave section, there is a ramp that can take racers to a circular platform, but a Mushroom or Boost item is needed or the racer will fall into the pit. In Mario Kart 7, this shortcut now involves a gliding section, but it still requires a Mushroom or Boost item to make it unless the racer's kart combination has a high Speed stat.✱ for all games
