Donkey Kong Jr. is a classic character who makes his first appearance in the arcade game Donkey Kong Jr. as the main protagonist, where he had to save his father Donkey Kong (now known as Cranky Kong) from Mario.
He makes his first appearance in the Mario Kart series, starting in Super Mario Kart, where he is classified as a heavyweight alongside Bowser. While controlled by the CPU, Donkey Kong Jr. throws or drops bananas near his opponents. He also has the highest top speed, but should he go off road, the kart's speed would drastically decrease.
From Mario Kart 64 onward, Donkey Kong Jr. was replaced by his son Donkey Kong taking his place.
In Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart Wii, Donkey Kong Jr. makes a cameo appearance in the audience on the course Waluigi Stadium. More so, he was originally planned to be a playable character in Double Dash!!, but was replaced with Diddy Kong.
Donkey Kong Jr. later returns as a playable character, but in his 16 bit form in Mario Kart Tour as part of the Super Mario Kart Tour and his special item is the Triple Bananas.
He has also been in Mario's Tennis for the VB, and Mario Tennis for the N64.

Characteristics and Personality[]
Donkey Kong Jr. is, appearance-wise, just like his father, except that he doesn't have a tail. He has brown fur and wears a white leotard with the letter J on it. Depending on his appearances, he is either shorter or roughly the same size as Donkey Kong.
Donkey Kong Jr. is known for his wide smile and silly mannerisms. In every game he appears in, he is either portrayed as a hero (as he was in Donkey Kong Jr.) and Mario's villain. He always teams up with Donkey Kong and is athletic and mischievous.

- In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, he was originally going to be a playable racer, but he got replaced with Diddy Kong.
- He returned to Mario Kart in September 2020, which was his first videogame appearance since Mario Tennis for the N64 in 2000 (not counting NES Remix games).
