Frenzy Action

Dry Bones acting all frantic after getting a lot of Mushrooms.

A Frenzy Action (フレンジーアクション) is a power-up mode that lets players become invincible and use an item an unlimited amount of times for a short period.

This feature has been introduced in the newest Mario Kart installment, Mario Kart Tour, so it's currently the only game to include it.

Description[]

Before a player can enter Frenzy mode, they first must select a racer who's rated for "Three item slots" on a specific track (Item Boxes give multiple items in Mario Kart Tour, with the number varying from character to character/race to race). Racers with only one or two item slots cannot access this ability.

During the race, hitting an Item Box will award the player with three random items (based on their placement). If all three are the same (example: three Bloopers), then "FRENZY!" appears on the screen... Now the player will be invincible as if enhanced by a Star (even the Star Theme is playing), six Bloopers will rotate around their Kart, and they'll be able to use as many Bloopers as they can for about ten seconds. There's a semi-auto fire rate cap of about 1 per second, so Frenzy mode's ROF isn't as fast as customary Triple or Lucky Items. However, player's can potentially use more items in the ten second time span.

A Star is the only item unable to go into Frenzy, since invulnerability is already granted no matter what the item. Any other item, even racers' Special Items, can enter into Frenzy mode.

Trivia![]

Frenzy Action (Triple Banana)

Lemmy Koopa shoots three Bananas forward at once!

  • If a Triple Item such as Triple Green Shells is used in Frenzy Mode, the amount of Green Shells rotating around the vehicle will still be six (just like any other Frenzy-enabled item). However, when fired forward, there will be three Shells at once, with moderate spread to the volley.
  • A Frenzy Action (pressing the Item button while in Frenzy) is worth up to 30 points, but it may occasionally be in the 20s.
  • The six items that revolve around the vehicle aren't actually used up—they're just for show. The items that are actually used always come from straight in front of the Kart. The for-show six will stay in rotation until the end of the power-up, when they disappear one by one.
  • When three Mushrooms are received and Frenzy is achieved, the award is similar to getting a Golden Mushroom.
  • The racer does Trick animations throughout the Frenzy power-up.
