Starman (Mario Kart Wii) This article is not to be confused with the Mario Kart 7 track, DK Jungle. Starman (Mario Kart Wii)

D.K.'s Jungle Parkway (known as DK's Jungle Parkway in Mario Kart Wii) is the first track of the Special Cup in Mario Kart 64. This track makes a retro appearance in Mario Kart Wii as the third track of the Leaf Cup.

This track takes place on a jungle environment based on various levels in the Donkey Kong Country series, very similar to DK Jungle. Notable features include a river, a huge jump, a bridge with a large pit below, and a cave.

Layout[]

Mario Kart 64[]

The beginning section starts out with an immediate right turn into a short straightaway along a river, then into an upwards spiral. The track then leads to a ramp with a large Dash Panel over the river, sending players flying to the other side. A sharp left turn must be made upon landing so you don't run into a wall. From here, a long section of straight track is righted by the river, which poses a threat to light characters like Toad. After this, the parkway takes several winding turns through a parkway, lined by grass. If a player drives in the grass, spiky fruits come flying out of nowhere and hit the driver, although this is actually kind of helpful, because they bump you back on. However, if you're in Time Trial mode, the coconuts erase your chances of saving a ghost. After this, a waterfall must be passed by traversing a rickety, narrow wood bridge, perfect for laying Banana Bunches and firing Green Shells. The bridge leads to a dark, gloomy cave. Sticking to the track can be safer, but you are not slowed down by the off-road part, so take it. The cave exits just in time for the finish line.

DK's Jungle Parkway as seen in Mario Kart Wii.

In Mario Kart Wii, the track is mostly unchanged - the quality of the textures has been improved, the big jump now behaves as a Cannon, the fruits have been removed, the shortcut in the cave was changed to off-road, requiring a speed item to perform, and the water is an orange-yellow colour to reflect the sunset.

Tournaments[]

There was a tournament that takes place on this track. Here, players race against Donkey Kong (on the Phantom) and Diddy Kong (on the Sneakster) who can throw an unlimited number of Bananas on the track. However, obtainable items are limited to Green Shells, Triple Green Shells, and Stars.

Shortcuts[]

  • At the cave. there is an off-road patch. In Mario Kart 64, this surprisingly doesn't require a Mushroom or power item. for all games
  • Boost at the start, drift, and hop off the edge at the beginning of the track, and fall at the right place. If done correctly, Lakitu should put you on the bridge in front of the cave, saving you time. for MK64
  • There is a glitch shortcut found just behind the starting line at the cave's exit. To perform it, a driver should drift through the wall at the right area; they will briefly clip out of bounds before falling back into the cave. Upon crossing the finish line again, it will be counted as a lap, even though the driver did not go all the way around the course. for MK64
  • Line up with a tree by the Finish Line on the right and mushroom-wheelie, you can clip off the tree and if done correctly, get a second clip from the finish line banner. this should land you in the tunnel. turn around and finish the lap as usual. for MKWii
