While the regular Bob-omb can be quite dangerous in Mario Kart, the Giga Bob-omb (ギガボムヘい) takes it up a level. This item's explosion is much larger than the standard Bob-omb, knocking over any drivers in its massive blast radius.
Players hoping to wreak havoc with the Giga Bob-omb will find that it operates in much the same way as the regular Bob-omb. Simply toss the giant bomb at a racer, and they'll be enveloped in a fiery explosion. A direct hit on a driver will cause immediate detonation; if the Giga Bob-omb doesn't hit anyone, it'll explode on the 3rd bounce. Because they lack a homing ability (like a Red Shell), Bob-omb-type items can be somewhat difficult to aim. However, the much bigger blast radius makes hit probability more likely. It should be noted, though, that unlike the standard Bob-omb, the Giga Bob-omb can't be carried/dropped behind the player's kart.
The Giga Bob-omb+ is, as expected, an even MORE upgraded version of the Bob-omb, boasting an even larger explosion. It's overall usage remains the same.
Defense[]
Despite it's inability to deploy behind a racer's vehicle, the Giga Bob-omb still has a use for defensive measures. Items that have been shot backwards, such as Green or Red Shells, can be destroyed with one of these huge bombs.
Protection[]
A racer on the receiving end of the Giga Bob-omb has a few options for avoiding the annihilation. A Starman's invincibility is always a great defense, and depending on which driver a player is using, Items like the Heart and Bubble can shield against the Giga Bob-omb. Other than those three Items though, dodging the massive explosions will be the only defense.
In addition to the new angry eyes, furnace mouth, and blue color, Giga Bob-ombs also have a much larger size. They are four times larger than regular Bob-ombs, and about two time larger than King Bob-omb himself (at least when thrown).
When players get "FRENZY!" in Mario Kart Tour, a group of six Giga Bob-ombs rotate around their kart, and they'll get unlimited throws for a short period of time.
Although they only be thrown forward, Dry Bones Cup Challenge artwork depicts King Bob-omb dropping a Giga Bob-omb onto Mario.
