Koopa Troopa appears as a common enemy in the Super Mario series. Marching across the terrain, Koopa Troopa constantly tries to catch Mario before he can rescue Peach, but cowers away in his shell when Mario steps on him. A pretty good defense tactic, actually, 'cause Mario might forget where he is, possibly. He usually has good Handling, Speed, and Mini-Turbo.
Koopa Troopa is a playable character in six of the nine Mario Kart games, first in Super Mario Kart (1992), and then skipping around until his latest game, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. He is always in the Lightweight class.
Characteristics[]
Koopa Troopa is one of Bowser's allies who tries to stop Mario in his quest to save Princess Peach. However, some Koopas aid Mario on his quest, like Koopa The Quick in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. Koopa Troopa sports green boots. His legs, arms, tail, and head are all yellow in color. He has bright, white eyes, and he is encased in a green shell. Koopa Troopa is mad that other racers use Koopas as items. He's a pretty great driver, too.

Game Appearances[]
Super Mario Kart[]
Koopa Troopa makes his Mario Kart debut in the series' first installment, Super Mario Kart, as a lightweight racer along with Princess Peach, Yoshi, and Toad. He along with Toad is placed under the category "The Small Guys". He gets his own course, known as Koopa Beach in two variants. During races, he can throw Green Shells on the track when he is a CPU, and Luigi will be his rival. In the game's two immediate sequels, Wario replaced Koopa Troopa.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]
Koopa Troopa makes a return in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! after being absent in 64 and Super Circuit. He is a lightweight like in his original appearance, where he can use any kart that depends on the Weight of his partner. His default partner is Paratroopa who makes his sole appearance as a racer in this game. His and Paratroopa's Special Items are the Triple Green Shells and Triple Red Shells. His personal kart is the Koopa Dasher, a kart available by default that has low speed and good acceleration.
Mario Kart Wii[]
After his absence from Mario Kart DS, Koopa Troopa returns in Mario Kart Wii, as a as a playable character unlocked by default. He is a lightweight racer once again, meaning he can only drive Small karts and bikes. His signature vehicle is the Bit Bike. He receives a new personal course in this game, which is Koopa Cape, a track from the Star Cup. His undead form Dry Bones makes a return after his debut in the series in Mario Kart DS.
Mario Kart 7[]
This marks Koopa Troopa's first appearance as a playable character in a handheld release. As with Super Mario Kart and his other previous appearances, he is available by default, replacing Wario in the starting characters for this release. Wario, however, is unlockable in this game and in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX.
Mario Kart 8 (including Deluxe)[]
Koopa Troopa is a starting character in Mario Kart 8. He is one of the heavier lightweight characters, with his stats shared with Toad, Shy Guy, Lakitu, Toadette, Larry, Wendy and Isabelle. His rivals are Yoshi and Toad. In the Deluxe version, he share his stats with Lakitu and Bowser Jr. He uses the Steel Driver, Sport Bike and the Standard ATV when he is a CPU.
Mario Kart Tour[]
Koopa Troopa returns in Mario Kart Tour as a Normal Driver. His Special Skill is the Triple Green Shells. His freerunning variants from Super Mario Odyssey appear as racers in this game, which are Super drivers instead. His Koopa Dasher makes a reappearance in this game. Also, N64 Koopa Troopa Beach, SNES Koopa Troopa Beach 2 and Wii Koopa Cape return as retro tracks in this game.
