Lakeside Park (レイクサイドパーク) is the first track of the Special Cup in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. This track makes a retro appearance in Mario Kart Tour as of the Sunshine Tour.
Lakeside Park is the sequel to Riverside Park, and although the two are very alike in name and in theme, Lakeside Park can be a little more difficult because of the erupting volcanoes.

DK drives along the course, facing the lava-spewing volcano.
Lakeside Park obviously takes place around the side of a lake, similarly to Riverside Park from the same game. The track starts with a small straightaway, followed by a few turns. After a softer U-turn, the track leads into a jump. Devilishly, before the jump, jump pads are on the right side of the track, and incautious racers may use them and end up losing a lot of time. After the jump, another turn, plus a U-turn, and a left turn, there is a Dash Panel and another misleading jump pad on the right side, leading back into the 270 degree turn. On the second lap and onwards, the volcano in the background erupts, shooting Lava Boulders that can make racers spin out on contact. The track's devilish jump pads, the volcanic boulders, and the many dash panels in the last section of the track make Lakeside Park quite difficult, and it deserves to be in Super Circuit's Special Cup. Also, the sky starts to darken.
Mario Kart Tour[]
Lakeside Park returned in Mario Kart Tour as part of the Sunshine Tour. It is the last GBA course, and last retro course, to be introduced in this game. As with many returning GBA tracks from this game, Lakeside Park's layout has need slightly adjusted to remove several sharp turns due to the game's turning physics. The track has received updated graphics and features different terrain heights. After a number of seconds during the race, the sky starts to darken and the volcano erupts, where much larger Lava Boulders are shot onto the track which flip racers over if they get hit by them. When they touch the ground, however, they bounce into the lake and they leave a hole behind, with the outsides being a good tricking spot.
Shortcuts[]
In terms of shortcuts, the best ones on this track revolve around glitches.
- Past the third turn, using a mushroom to shoot across the water towards the other side of the track will cause you to respawn there. This saves roughly 5 seconds.✱ for MKSC
- The second shortcut comes during the large ramp jump. After boosting off of the Dash Panels and taking the jump, target yourself towards the right side of the track. If you bounce off the boost ramp, you can land in front of the finish line. This saves about 4 seconds.✱ for MKSC
Other shortcuts can be done by cutting corners using a mushroom over grass, but they do not save much time, and will not take as much practice as the glitch shortcuts.

Trivia![]
- Lava Boulders first appeared in Mario Party for the Nintendo 64, where they were originally and un-creatively called Volcanic Debris.
- The longest time in between versions of a track is held by this course, with the Tour version releasing 22 years after the track's debut in Super Circuit.
- This and Sunset Wilds are the only tracks in the entire Mario Kart series where the time of day changes during the race.
- Unlike other courses in the series that share similar themes with another course in the same game (such as DK Mountain and Dino Dino Jungle in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!), this course does not share the same music as Riverside Park.
- However, this course's song is a remix of Riverside Park's and shares the same instrument bank in the files.
