Madrid Drive is the last city course that debuted in Mario Kart Tour with its first two variants as part of the 2023 Summer Tour, and its 3rd variant as part of the 4th Anniversary Tour. It returns as one the tracks in Wave 6 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC, as the first course of the Spiny Cup. It's evidently based off the city of Madrid, of which is the capital of Spain.
Layout[]
Three routes exist for Madrid Drive; the first route is concentrated to the northern half and starts facing west at the Puerta del Sol, and the last two routes visit the southern half of the city, though the second route also visits the park at the far east and starts facing east. The third route was released later than the first two. The three routes have reverse versions where their direction reverses, trick versions that give them extra ramps for Jump Boosts, and reverse-trick versions where both changes occur.
Madrid Drive 1[]
This route is more concentrated to the northern half of the city. Racers on this route start in the Puerta del Sol, facing west. After a brief straightaway, they make a slight right at a three-way intersection. After they pass under a bridge, they make a 270-degree left turn, crossing the bridge itself. This is followed by a slight right, then a sharp left and then a sharp right turn as the racers enter the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium where some Goombae play football (soccer), using oversized boots to kick their soccer balls around. Racers can knock over the soccer balls for more points on their way through the stadium. The route continues south through a soccer goal, directing them back into the Puerta del Sol, where they turn right to get back to the starting line.
Madrid Drive 2[]
This route is more concentrated to the southern half of the city. Racers on this route start facing to the east. They take a slight left turn, driving beneath some arches. Afterwards, they make a sharp right turn, heading to the Retiro Park, and taking a glide ramp to glide over the park's large pond. Upon landing, they turn right to pass both the Madrid Atocha station and the Prado Museum. They drive past many theatres, restaurants, and other facilities before entering la Plaza Mayor south of the starting area, where they avoid some oversized Wigglers that go around a statue of King Phillip III. They take the exit to the west and go straight at a four-way intersection, heading northwest through a market which Thwomps haunt. After the racers go through this section, they take a 180-degree right turn, passing beneath the bridge. This is followed by a slight left turn that leads to the starting line.
Madrid Drive 3[]
This route is more concentrated to the south just like in Madrid Drive 2, but as in Madrid Drive 1, racers start facing west. After a left turn, they head south, where they come across a four-way intersection with the west path to the right leading to the San Miguel Market and the east path to the left leading straight to la Plaza Mayor. The racers must head straight and go south this time. The road curves back north to la Plaza Mayor through one of the southern exits. Before exiting, however, the racers must swing around the statue of King Phillips. After this, they can leave through the other southern exit, with the road curving to the left. After this, the racers make a right turn, heading south into the Madrid Atocha station. The road turns around and the racers are redirected north, crossing the road and entering the Prado Museum, where various characters in the Super Mario Bros. franchise appear in paintings. After a left turn, the racers get out of the museum. They then make a right S-curve, heading back to the starting line.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
Madrid Drive makes its return in the sixth wave of the Booster Course Pass DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, placing it in the Spiny Cup as the first track. According to the trailer, Madrid Drives 1 and 3 will be driven normally, while Madrid Drive 2 is shown being driven backwards, as Mario is shown gliding from the south of Madrid Drive 2's gliding section in Retiro Park rather than from the north end.[1] Dash Panels have been added to the stadium, and the soccer balls now cause damage. What order these routes will be played in has yet to be revealed.
Variants each lap takes from[]

Trivia![]
- The track features 3 different song variants.
- The first variant is the normal song that plays in most of the course.
- The second variant is used in Madrid Drive 1 when inside the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, in which you hear the crowd singing along. Due to it being in the last lap, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has this variant sped up.
- The third variant is used in Madrid Drive 3 when inside the Prado Museum.
- The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version of the course also has the ‘normal’ laps 1 and 2 version of the Stadium variant, while also having a final lap version of the Museum variant. Both versions are never heard through normal gameplay.
- Madrid Drive is the seventh European City track in Mario Kart Tour. The others being Paris Promenade, London Loop, Berlin Byways, Amsterdam Drift, Athens Dash and Rome Avanti.
- This course was originally supposed to come in Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass as the first course of the Feather Cup (as evidenced by it being labeled in the files as "Cnsw_51"), but it got pushed back to Wave 6 for as of yet unknown reasons.
- It is likely because this course debuted in Tour after Wave 5 released.
