A Mini Mushroom (マメキノコ) is a tiny variant of a regular red Mushroom. First appearing in Mario Party 4, this little blue shroom (though originally pink) would shrink players, offering them a unique set of abilities that only puny players could perform. Since then, the Mini Mushroom has given players many advantages, but at the cost of reducing them down to a vulnerable, stomp-able size.

In Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, getting hit by this Item isn't too good at all, as it shrinks the player down to a very tiny, slow-moving size.

Usage[]

Offense[]

Mini Mushroom (Yoshi) (3)

What players basically get when they choose the Mini Mushroom from the Item Selection menu is a cross between a Red Shell and a Lightning Bolt. An automatic computer will target the racer ahead of them, and once the enemy is locked into the sights, the player can hit the Item button. The Mini Mushroom will shoot out and hit the player, immediately shrinking them into a bite-size state. The effects don't last too long, but it's still a pretty nice Item.

Protection[]

To protect against a Mini Mushroom isn't exactly the easiest thing to do since it's a homing Item and no Items can be dragged behind Karts in Mario Kart Arcade GP DX. The only solution to defending against the blue shroom is have fast reflexes and use a Place behind Item right before you get hit. Other than that, a Starman, Shield, or other invincibility Item are the only other ways.

Trivia![]

Mini Mushroom (Mario Kart Arcade GP DX)

The Mini Mushroom fro Mario Kart Arcade GP DX.

  • The effects of the Mini Mushroom are very similar to the now-retired Poison Mushroom. Both shrooms would shrink players, but the Poison Mushroom had the added affect of being able to be dropped from behind.
  • There are two other items that shrink the player: the Lightning Bolt and the Thunder Cloud (though both of those items also make the player lose his or her items).
    • In the Super Smash Bros. series, the Poison Mushroom took the place of the Mini Mushroom, but the two probably would have synonymous effects.
  • A direct OPPOSITE of the Mini Mushroom would be the Mega Mushroom from Mario Kart Wii. Instead of sizing down a player, this beast would enlarge a character and allow them to flatten opponents.
  • マメキノコ, "Mame Kinoko", or Bean Mushroom is the Japanese name for this Item, probably in relation to the smallness of a bean.
