Mushroom Gorge is the third track of the Mushroom Cup in Mario Kart Wii. This track makes a retro appearance in Mario Kart 7 as the third track of the Shell Cup, in Mario Kart Tour as of the Mii Tour, and in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of Wave 2 of the Booster Course Pass DLC, as the third track of the Propeller Cup.
As its name implies, the track takes place at a mountain featuring many giant Trampoline Mushrooms and regular green ones. In its retro appearances, there is even a blue one which acts as a Glide Panel.
Layout[]
Mario Kart Wii[]
The course is located on a mountainous zone with giant Trampoline Mushrooms rising over cloudy abysses, where racers have to use some of them as platforms to pass certain gorges. Characters mainly travel the course on land. However, in the middle of the route, they enter a cave where they find an abyss full of Trampoline Mushrooms. Players can drive two different ways over these mushrooms to cross the cave. Some Goombas appear serving as obstacles on the track. If they are hit with a Green Shell or Red Shell, they will drop a Mushroom.
Mario Kart 7[]
Mushroom Gorge returns in Mario Kart 7 as the third course of the Shell Cup. The difference between the Wii version is that the shortcut next to the start is removed, and in the cavern, if racers take the left, the tallest mushroom is replaced by a blue mushroom which activates their glider. Also, the big corner you can skip by hopping over in Mario Kart Wii, has been replaced as in Mario Kart 7 you can glide over the same amount. Also, the Goombas at the end are now Giant Goombas.
Mario Kart Tour[]
Mushroom Gorge returns for the third time as part of the Mii Tour in Mario Kart Tour. The course received a large visual and aesthetic overhaul, with new background elements, and a revamped starting line. Many gameplay elements from the Mario Kart 7 version of the track return, including the updated cavern section, the Giant Goombas, and the removal of the beginning shortcut. Only major gameplay difference is that many of the Dash Panels at the end of trick sections were replaced with ramps.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
Mushroom Gorge returns as the third track of the Propeller Cup as part of Wave 2 in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC. The design was lifted directly from Tour's revamp of the course, with improved textures and visuals. A few gameplay changes were made between versions, with the starting shortcut being reintroduced, one of the Trampoline Mushrooms were removed from the second mushroom section, most likely due to Mario Kart 8 Deluxes gameplay physics. The cavern section has been changed to include three paths instead of two, two of them being the original paths from Wii's version, and one of them including the glider mushroom introduced in Mario Kart 7s iteration. In addition, the shortcut at the end of the course returns after being absent in Mario Kart Tour.
Shortcuts[]
- Players can use a Mushroom at the beginning at the track to bounce on the trampoline mushroom and on to the bridge. It's possible to reach the first bouncy mushroom without boosting with a Mushroom, but you won't make it onto the second mushroom. This shortcut returns for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version, only difference is now it is possible to clear the shortcut completely without using a mushroom.
- Get a good angle, and then use a Mushroom to hang onto the rock and try to get onto the other side. This one is a hard one to pull off and works best with a Wii Wheel.✱ for MKWii
- At the end of the course, you can jump over the gap to cut off the final turn. This one requires a Mushroom. In Mario Kart 7, you can GLIDE over it. However, this still requires a Mushroom while gliding and if you don't use the Mushroom, you will fall into the gap. This shortcut is possible in all versions with the exception of the Mario Kart Tour.
