Paris Promenade is a track that first appeared in Mario Kart Tour as of the Paris Tour. It is a city course based off of the ever so recognizable city, Paris, of which is in the country of France.
Paris Promenade received two more track variants, with the second debuting in the Valentine's Tour, and the third debuting in the 2021 Paris Tour. A battle course variant of the track debuted in the Spring Tour, named, "Paris Promenade B".
This track would then reappear as a retro track in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass DLC, as the first track in the Golden Dash Cup.
Layout[]
Mario Kart Tour[]
Paris Promenade 1[]
This variant starts by the player facing the Arc de Triomphe, where a few metal gates direct racers to the left side of the roundabout, though you are still able to use a shortcut, which is guarded by Piranha Plant cutouts. Afterwards there is a long left turn, in the middle of a bustling street. You eventually reach a glider ramp, which takes you over the Jardins du Trocadéro, the path then directs you under the Eiffel Tower, where some Goombas and a pipe act as obstacles. The path makes a 90 degree left turn towards a ferocious Super Piranha Plant, and will spin you out if you're not careful. You are then sent left, where you drive through what seems to be a dirt path, though it is not treated as off-road. The player then bypasses the Luxor Obelisk, and heads toward the finish line.
Reverse, Trick, and Reverse-trick Variants[]
The Goombas and pipes encountered beneath the Eiffel Tower only appear in the normal variant. The reverse variant is directed through the Arc de Triomphe itself, leaving the south half of the roundabout unused; as such, there are no Piranha Plant cutounts. The trick and reverse-trick variants have ramps, with the reverse-trick variant obviously going the opposite direction, and the reverse-trick variant also has the north side of the Luxor Obelisk's roundabout being used instead of the south side.
Enemies/Obstacles[]
- Cones (N, R, & T)
- Giant Pirahna Plant
- Goombas (N)
- Hot Air Balloons (R/T)
- Pirahna Plant cutouts (N)
- Pipe (N)
Paris Promenade 2[]
This variant starts out in the reverse direction this time around, where you are facing the Luxor Obelisk. The race starts by taking a right turn into a path that cuts in front of the Eiffel Tower, where you the proceed to drive through the iconic tower, where there are Goombas present. You take a same route as the Paris Promenade 1 variant, though once you get to the Piranha Plant section, you now must go around the roundabout, and keep going forward. You then reach a new section, where famous buildings such as the Sacré-Cœur, La Madeleine, and the Église Saint-Augustin can be seen. There are a few pipe ramps on the road that you can trick off of, all before heading back to the Arc de Triomphe, where the lap later concludes.
Reverse, Trick, and Reverse-trick Variants[]
The Goombas under the Eiffel Tower do not show up for the Reverse, Trick, and Reverse-trick variants, as in Paris Promenade 1. The reverse variant adds pipes on the track where two passive Piranha Plants appear. In the reverse-trick variant, the racers go over the roundabout at the far east of the track.
Enemies/Obstacles[]
- Cones (N, R, & T)
- Giant Pirahna Plant (N, R, & T)
- Goombas (N)
- Pirahna Plant cutouts (N, R, & T)
- Piped Pirahna Plants (R)
Paris Promenade 3[]
This variant starts more similarly to the first, with you facing the Arc de Triomphe. Unlike Paris Promenade 1, you are sent left around the first roundabout instead of right, though the shortcut is still usable. You take the long left turn around the buildings, though this time there is no Glide Panel once you get to the section in front of the Eiffel Tower, instead there is a simple ramp. You drive through the Jardins du Trocadéro, where once you get to the Eiffel Tower, you are diverted left back through the path of Paris Promenade 2. That is, until you get to the Luxor Obelisk, where you are sent right toward the Piranha Plant, where next you have to take another left to stay on the main route. You are sent through the same path as Paris Promenade 2, where there are no longer pipe ramps present, instead replaced with Goombas and regular pipe obstacles. Then, you once again face back toward the Luxor Obelisk, where one right turn will lead you to the finish.
Reverse, Trick, and Reverse-trick Variants[]
The reverse variant adds two Goombas just before the Arc de Triomphe, and the racers can go straight through it using a glide ramp. In the trick variant, the south half of the Arc de Triomphe's roundabout is no longer blocked off, but the middle path is during the first lap; in the second lap, a glide ramp appears before the roundabout, allowing the blockade to be bypassed. In the reverse-trick variant, the racers are forced through the middle of the Arc de Triomphe itself. All three variants remove the cones and Piranha Plant cutouts, and the trick and reverse-trick variants remove the Goombas.
Enemies/Obstacles[]
- Blowing air (R/T)
- Cones (N)
- Giant Pirahna Plant (N, R, & T)
- Goombas (N & R)
- Pirahna Plant cutouts (N)
- Pipes (N)
Paris Promenade B[]
Similar to New York Minute B, Paris Promenade B is a variant of the course that is set in Battle Mode. Multiple routes such as the roundabouts around the Arc de Triomphe and the Luxor Obelisk are used, along with the route first seen in the second variant. There is also a new route used here that is not present in any other variants, nor even in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version of the course. This northeastern exit takes you from the roundabout around the Arc de Triomphe to the route seen in Paris Promenade 2, and vise versa.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
The course returns as one of the city courses as part of Mario Kart 8 Deluxes Booster Course Pass DLC. It received a substantial visual overhaul, with HD textures and lighting. The course is a unique combination of the three variants from Tour, with different elements from each variant playing a role.
It starts out much like Paris Promenade 1 & 3 from Tour, with you facing the Arc de Triomphe. The shortcut through it is still present, and the roundabout is now completely open, with no metal barriers, although there are some on the entrances to unused pathways. The racers reunite afterwards, and they take the long left turn through the streets of Paris. You then reach the glider section where a glider ramp is present, which takes you over the Jardins du Trocadéro. After landing, you have an option to go either two pathways, one takes you under and through the Eiffel Tower, where there is a few Dash Panels, and a set of Item Boxes, though is the slowest. The other path is a faster solution, but with no dash panels nor item boxes. The racers eventually reunite at the Piranha Plant section, where they head through a section of Paris Promenade 3, where shortly after they have to take a left turn toward the Luxor Obelisk, then another right toward the finish line.
The second lap is very much the same as the first in this version, making this the only city course in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to not have the layout change for each lap. The third lap changes it up by having you make a left turn from the first roundabout, down into the section from Paris Promenade 2, though in reverse, where there is a glider ramp present that you can take to fly above part of the track. There is also a normal ramp on the main road, which separates two parts of the track. Since the third lap takes place backwards, it is possible to drive into players who a far behind, making this and GCN Luigi Circuit the only tracks where players are meant to drive into each-other. From then on, most of the track is much like the first and second laps but backwards, with driving through or around the Eiffel Tower in reverse, gliding past the Jardins du Trocadéro in reverse, and ending it off by taking a long right turn toward the Arc de Triomphe, where after the roundabout the race comes to a close.
Enemies/obstacles[]
- Giant Pirahna Plant
- Pipes
- Pirahna Plant cutouts

Shortcuts[]
- There is a shortcut you can take with a mushroom right at the start of the course that takes you under the Arc de Triomphe which cuts through a roundabout.✱ for all games
- While not technically a shortcut, there is an alternate path that avoids going under the Eiffel Tower, which saves a lot of time over the other path.✱ for MK8

Trivia![]
- Paris Promenade and DS Peach Gardens are the only courses in the Mario Kart series to have their music be in 3/4 time.
- Also, these tracks are the only courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to only change layout on the third lap.
- Paris Promenade is the first course from Mario Kart Tour whose first lap is not based entirely on the first variant in the Booster Course Pass, as when the racers approach the roundabout at the far east from the south, they will be forced to take the north exit as in Paris Promenade 2 before continuing onto Paris Promenade 3, rather than taking the west exit as in the original Paris Promenade 1.
- London Loop has a shortcut outside the Leadenhall Market connecting London Loops 1 and 3; taking this means the racers will get to the northeastern corner of the city quicker, but will miss out on item boxes. In the Mario Kart Tour version, they were forced to go through the market.
- Racers can access both halves of la Piazza del Campidóglio in the Booster Course Pass version of Rome Avanti, whereas in the original Rome Avanti 1, they are restricted to the eastern half of the Piazza.
- Berlin Byways does not count, as the first two variants have the wrong numbers (the first variant is Berlin Byways 2, while the second is Berlin Byways 1), and neither does Los Angeles Laps due to there being (ironically for the latter course's name) no second or third lap.
- Additionally, this is the first track in the Booster Course Pass to cut out a piece of a route that was used in the original version in Mario Kart Tour, not counting reverse, trick, or reverse-trick variants, as the racers no longer visit the southwestern quadrant of the Luxor Obelisk's roundabout as they did in the original Paris Promenade 1.
- The inside route of Amsterdam Drift 2 was lost in the Booster Course Pass version of Amsterdam Drift.
- There is a section of the roundabout at la Piazza del Pópolo between the southern and southeastern exits in Rome Avanti which was used in Rome Avanti 2 but was lost in the Booster Course Pass.
