Podoboos (also known as Fire Snakes and Lava Bubbles) are obstacles, and they can be found on Grumble Volcano in Mario Kart Wii, the Bowser's Castle courses in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and on the Mario Kart Wii version of Desert Hills from Mario Kart DS (they are only fireballs in the original). They hop back and forth on the track.
If they are touched by a racer, the racer will spin out. Podobos largely take their design from the Fire Snake of the Super Mario platformers. On Grumble Volcano, Podoboos come from pipes, but on DS Desert Hills, the sun spawns them on the track. In Waluigi Stadium and DS Wario Stadium, players would have to dodge Podoboo Cogs. In the Mario Kart 8 remake of DS Wario Staduim, Podoboo Cogs are in the same place as last time. However, when racing on the track, you can't see them fully as they act as a hazard between the new anti-gravity section, where each line of the Podoboo Cog comes up only once at a time. Podoboos are also seen in several Bowser's Castle courses such as GBA Bowser Castle 3 where they spring out of the lava along with some Item Boxes.
Trivia![]
- Although Podoboos have eyes in most of the mainline Mario games, Podoboos have yet to have eyes in the Mario Kart games although the Fire Snake varitey has eyes.
