Podoboo Cogs

Waluigi and Mario approaching two fiery Podoboo Cogs!

Podoboo Cog

Will Waluigi be able to avoid this Podoboo Cog?

Podoboo Cogs (also called Firebars or Fire Arms) are chains of Fire found in several Bowser's Castle courses. They spin out any racers unfortunate enough to collide with them. They are usually found in halfpipes or large gaps so there isn't much leg room for racers. If you collide with a Podoboo Cog, your kart will spin out.

Podoboo Cogs are first seen in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! in the course Waluigi Stadium. Here, they are found on the Halfpipe section near the Mechanical Piranha Plants in the center of the track. Avoiding them isn't particularly challenging. Running into a Podoboo Cog with a Star will allow you to phase right through it. A different kind of Podoboo Cog is also seen in Bowser's Castle.

Podoboo Cogs are also seen in Mario Kart DS in the course, Wario Stadium. In this game, they appear on several jumps and during the twists and turns near the mud. Podoboo Cogs are usually placed near Item Boxes in this course requiring you to act quick to get the Item.

In Mario Kart Wii, Podoboo Cogs are seen in Bowser's Castle. Two are seen on the split paths after the Mechanical Bowser. They can easily be avoided with accurate timing. A much larger Podoboo Cog is also seen at the Castle's exit. The Podoboo Cogs also return in the remake of Waluigi Stadium however the Vertical Dash Panels make avoiding them a whole lot easier.

In Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Podoboo Cogs are seen in Bowser's Castle. They appear as common obstacles after the jumps and they also appear around the various corridors. Podoboo Cogs also return in the remake of Wario Stadium from Mario Kart DS. Several new Podoboo Cogs have been added in the new section of the course and it is shown that the fireballs from the cog can actually spin through the mesh tracks.
