Poochy is Yoshi's cute dog that has appeared throughout the Yoshi franchise. He has a spotted coat with a long red tongue, a black studded collar, lips that look similar to that of a duck, and a red (yellow in his Yoshi's Woolly World artwork) ball at the end of his tail. He barks happily constantly when he walks.
His first playable appearance in the Mario Kart series was in Mario Kart Tour.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]
In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Poochy makes a cameo as a background attraction of the Baby Park racetrack but does not make a physical appearance otherwise.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
Poochy makes his first physical appearance in the series in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the Yoshi's Island course (only available though the Booster Course Pass DLC), where he is seen atop Yoshi and his fellow colours' mailbox at the beginning of the course. Poochy has three different animations: he may sleep, bark happily, or leap excitedly into the air while barking.
Mario Kart Tour[]
Poochy makes his playable Mario Kart series debut in Mario Kart Tour starting with the 2023 Yoshi Tour on April 5, 2023. Due to his status as a driver, he no longer appears on top of the mailbox on the Yoshi's Island course. His special item is the Lucky 7.
