The Prancer is an unlockable kart in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is the spiritual successor to the Daytripper from Mario Kart Wii. It also appears in Mario Kart Tour.

Description[]

The Prancer is a salmon-colored body with two mechanical white horses located at the front that move up and down while the kart is moving, resembling a horse-drawn carriage. It looks It is occasionally Princess Peach's signature kart.

How to Unlock[]

  • Collect as many Coins as possible and hope you get lucky.

  • Purchase at the Shop if it appears from:
    • The Daily Selects for 10,000 Coins
    • The Daily Spotlight for 100 Rubies
  • Or obtain it from the Pipe/Golden Pipe.

The Prancer as it appears in Mario Kart 8.

The Prancer offers no stats, meaning it gives no effect to the driver's performance. Its stats are identical to the Standard Kart, the Cat Cruiser, the Sneeker, The Duke, and the Teddy Buggy.

A CPU controlled Peach or Cat Peach often uses this kart paired with the Wood tires and the Peach Parasol.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]

It boosts Speed, but it lowers Acceleration and Traction. Its stats are identical to the Sneeker, the Gold Kart and the Master Cycle.

Mario Kart Tour[]

The Prancer reappears in Mario Kart Tour as a High-End Kart. It has Slipstream Plus, which increases the length of and the points earnt from Slipstreams. This kart is equipped with the Wood tires from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. However, the horses that originally moved up and down are now stationary.

There is another version of this kart, dubbed the Gilded Prancer, which has Jump Boost Plus instead. This kart uses a blue and white color scheme, while its wheels are colored light gray.

Trivia![]

  • In the Mario Kart 8 true ending credits, Baby Rosalina is seen driving the Prancer in GCN Sherbet Land and in Rainbow Road with the Peach Parasol.
    • But in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe true ending credits, Baby Rosalina can only be briefly seen gliding in Rainbow Road near the end of the credits.
  • This vehicle resembles a horse coach as seen in the image above.
  • The Prancer bears a resemblance to the Stagecoach Engine, an unlockable part for the train in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which also features white horses that move up and down.
