Princess Daisy (or simply just Daisy) is a character who first appeared in Super Mario Land. She is good friends with Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Rosalina, Toadette, and the rest of the "good guys". Daisy has an apparent love interest in Luigi as shown in Daisy Circuit's fountains depicting the two. She serves as the second female in the Mario series.

Daisy make her debut in Mario Kart in the series' fourth title, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, as Peach's default partner. She appear in all subsequent mainline Mario Kart titles ever since.

Characteristics[]

Daisy is the princess of Sarasaland. Her dress is light yellow, ending in two outlines of orange lace. Her hips are covered by an orange skirt, and the shoulder area of her dress is quite poofy and ends in white trim underneath is a pair of Orange High Heels. She also wears white evening gloves. Her jewelry includes an emerald green gem on her chest in the shape of a daisy, emerald green earrings that are also in the shape of flowers, and a golden crown with an emerald green gem that looks like a daisy in the middle of her crown. Her hair is long and curls back a little and is a nice shade of reddish brown. She has blue eyes and long eyelashes, and always has a sassy smile on her face, coinciding with her often rude taunts when she passes you in a race. In Mario Kart Wii, Daisy, along with Princess Peach and Rosalina change into a special biker outfit when they are riding bikes. Of course, Daisy's suit will lean to the orange side, since that is the color of her dress. In her biker get-up, she has orange boots with a white top and white heels. Her suit is mainly white, with orange stripes going down her legs and arms and wears a orange belt with a silver buckle. She dresses in orange racing gloves, wears a orange scarf around her neck, and she still maintains all her jewelry, including her crown on her head and her hair style. Princess Daisy is all about style... and winning too.

Game Appearances[]

Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]

This is Daisy's debut in the Mario Kart series, where she is a middleweight character. By default, she partners with Peach, both using hearts as a special item and riding Peach's kart, the Heart Coach. Daisy's kart, the Bloom Coach, is unlockable. In the Double Dash!! art, Daisy is usually shown using items instead of driving. The game also features the Daisy Cruiser course, complimenting Peach Beach. Daisy Cruiser is also available in Mario Kart 7.

Mario Kart DS[]

Daisy makes her DS debut in Mario Kart DS. Unlike Mario Kart Double Dash!!, she is an unlockable character. However, Daisy is classified as a mediumweight racer, unlike Peach, a very similar character who is a lightweight in this game. Her karts are the Power Flower, the Light Dancer, and of course the Standard DS. These karts usually have balanced Speed and Acceleration, low Handling, and high Drifting attributes.

Once the player can choose between 7 different karts for each character upon completing either the Nitro or Retro Cups on 150cc, Daisy gains the option to choose from Mario's B Dasher, Princess Peach's Light Tripper, Yoshi's Egg 1 and Donkey Kong's Rambi Rider. She lacks a home course in this game, though the closest she has to one is GBA Sky Garden.

Mario Kart Wii[]

Daisy is a mediumweight once again, with her lightweight equivalent now being the new Baby Daisy. Like all characters, Daisy has a stat increase, where she receives a Speed bonus, and a slight Handling and Mini-Turbo boost. Daisy gets a new home course in Mario Kart Wii known as Daisy Circuit in the Star Cup. Staff Ghosts as Daisy include Coconut Mall (Sugarscoot for Normal and Wild Wing for Expert) and Daisy Circuit (Daytripper for Normal and Mach Bike for Expert). Her signature vehicle is the Mach Bike.

Mario Kart 7[]

Daisy is now a lightweight character along with Peach and Yoshi. This game's Mushroom Cup includes her new home course, Daisy Hills. Additionally, the Daisy Cruiser course from Double Dash!! is now a retro course in the Leaf Cup, bringing a few new changes.

Mario Kart 8 / Deluxe[]

Daisy's latest appearance is Mario Kart 8. This time, she appears as a default character in both editions, just like Double Dash!!. She has the same biker suit from Mario Kart Wii along with Peach and Rosalina when riding a bike or an ATV. In Grand Prix mode, Waluigi and Peach compete her as one of her main rivals while she and Mario compete both Luigi and Wario as their main rivals.

Mario Kart Tour[]

Daisy has been playable in Mario Kart Tour since the New York Tour was in effect retroactive September 25, 2019. She is a Super Driver with the Heart as her Special Skill. As with most characters in this game, Daisy has alternative forms in this game, in Holiday Cheer, Fairy, Yukata, Swimwear, Farmer, Thai Dress, and Sailor.

Trivia![]

  • According to the Mario Kart Wii Prima Guide, Daisy is Peach's cousin.
    • Nintendo hasn’t denied that Daisy is Peach's cousin.
  • In Mario Kart Wii, speedrunners most of the time use either Funky Kong on the Flame Runner or Daisy on the Mach Bike due to their speed stat bonuses.
  • Daisy is the second hardest character to unlock in Mario Kart Wii as she is required to have the player get first place in the 150cc Special Cup. The hardest being Dry Bowser.
  • While playing Mario Kart Wii, if you win the 150cc Special Cup AND get at least a one star-rank for the Wii Cups of the latter Engine Class, you'll unlock both Daisy and Dry Bowser altogether, respectively, because these two both are usually the hardest characters in unlocking which is very time consuming and takes a lot of practice in when you are racing. According to a lot of people, they are the hardest in unlocking.
