Rock Rock Mountain (Alpine Pass in PAL regions) is the last track of the Flower Cup in Mario Kart 7. It reappears as a retro track in Mario Kart Tour as of the game's release, and in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass DLC, fittingly as the third track of the Rock Cup.
Taking place on a mountain with relentless Falling Boulders and annoying Swoopers, while glider panels send racers soaring into the sky, it's an intense race all the way through and a sight to behold.
Layout[]
Mario Kart 7[]
The track starts off with a right turn, with several Pipes, and a ramp. Then, you enter a cave, and there are sunlight shining on the Coins, telling you where they are. Then, when you get out of the cave, you go over a Dash Panel and a Glide Panel, and some pipes even blow wind, floating you up into the air a little more. There are ramps below the area where you are gliding. Followed by another glider ramp, where you can go over or under the log. And at the end of the track, there is a prolonged uphill section with boulders as obstacles, and a few optional dash panels that will aid you to go up the incline. Once you reach the final gliding area, you end up crossing the Finish Line and later start another lap.
Mario Kart Tour[]
Rock Rock Mountain reappears as one of the debut retro tracks in Mario Kart Tour. The track ended up receiving a major aesthetic change, mainly with the mountain now being a tan-orange color instead of dark grey, as well as the rock formations being altered. The banner for the starting line has also been changed, and now includes two log supports holding it up, instead of poles. Furthermore, the sign itself now features black and white checkers, rather than the turquoise and light yellow checkers from before. Not much has changed gameplay wise, only exception being that the ramp shortcut at the start has been removed.
The reverse variant involves climbing a large chain-link path to get to where racers drove off in the standard layout. In the trick variant, the starting line is moved midway through the forest after the first glider ramp. The ramp at the end of the climb up the mountain just before the original starting line is no longer a glide ramp.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
This course makes its next reappearance as DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is the third course of the Rock Cup. Many of the aesthetic changes made in the Tour iteration of the course have been kept intact, although with improved textures and lighting. The gameplay is much of the same, though now anti-gravity has been added to the final uphill section, along with Spin boost pillars replacing some of the Dash panels from before.
Shortcuts[]
- You can cut of a tiny piece of the track by using the ramp at the beginning.✱ for MK7
- Before the section with the boulders, drift right and use a Mushroom to access a hidden ramp.✱ for all games
- Half way into the final gliding section, there is a pipe that is blowing wind. Utilizing this shortcut will help you glide further, and will help you avoid taking the first few turns in the beginning.✱ for all games

Trivia![]
- It is possible to go on a certain pipe by using the ramp. This does not require a Mushroom, but you have to back up all the way as you can.
- This track is longest 3-lap 3DS track in Mario Kart 7, due to the length of the gliders and the length of the upper part of the mountain.
- This course was originally supposed to come as the fourth and last course of the Rock Cup (as evidenced by it being labeled in the files as "Cnsw_34").
