Shy Guy stares out from behind his mask, his gaze revealing the hidden weaknesses of his opponents. He is playable in Mario Kart DS when using the DS Download Play feature. However, only DS Download Play downloaders can play as a Shy Guy. There can be up to 7 Shy Guys in a race (7 other downloaders). He has a course named after him, Shy Guy Beach, with him and his friends as pirates throwing Bob-ombs onto the shore, although he isn't a playable character neither in Mario Kart: Super Circuit nor Mario Kart Wii. In Mario Kart DS, you may also use Shy Guy by using an Action Replay and using it as a cheat.
Shy Guys also appear as a hazard in Brawl's Mario Circuit stage. They are also hazards in Mario Kart Super Circuit's Sunset Wilds, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!'s Sherbet Land, and Mario Kart Wii's DK Summit.
Shy Guy also appears as a spectator during the Award Ceremony in Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
Shy Guy appears as an unlockable character for the first time in Mario Kart 7. He also reappears in Mario Kart 8. A grey edition of him can be played using download play. However, you are unable to customize your vehicle.
If you pre-order both DLC Packs in Mario Kart 8, you will be able to get eight different-colored Shy Guys immediately.
Shy Guy is a short little racer in the Mario Kart series. He has blue shoes with brown soles. Shy Guy is cloaked in a red hood that covers his whole body. He wears a maroon belt with a gold buckle over it, and because he is shy, he has a white mask that has large, black holes simulating his eyes and a small, black hole for a mouth.
In Mario Kart, Shy Guys come in alternate colors when in Multiplayer. The colors are light blue, green, yellow, pink, and purple. Only their robes and shoes are different colors. Still, you have to give them credit for moderation.
