Snow Land is the first track in the Star Cup in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. After over twenty years, this track makes a retro appearance in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of Wave 2 of the Booster Course Pass DLC, as the second track of the Propeller Cup, and very shortly after in Mario Kart Tour as of the 2022 Holiday Tour.
It is a snow themed course, hence the name. There are also some trees, penguins, and the road is quite slippery.
Layout[]
Mario Kart: Super Circuit[]
Snow Land is a course set in a winter wonderland, with many snowmen, icicles, and of course, Penguins. A little after the starting line, a huge stretch of 25 Coins, all in a row, can be picked up. Its background looks like a bunch of glaciers and snowy mountains. In this game, SNES Vanilla Lake 1 and SNES Vanilla Lake 2 use this background as well. The main hazards are ice patches that trip players up, snowmen, and Penguins.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
Snow Land returns in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Booster Course Pass DLC. This remake is completely different to the original and resembles a park more than a land. At the Start, racers will pass through a stone ice-themed archway. They will then drive through icy sloped terrain and reach a patch of thin ice with a watery hole in the middle. They will have to avoid the penguins sliding at them. After that is more icy sloped terrain before reaching the finish line. Furthermore, many of the shortcuts from the original have been replaced in favor of new ones.
Mario Kart Tour[]
This course returns yet again in Mario Kart Tour, starting with the 2022 Holiday Tour. It keeps its general design from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's reimagining of the course, though with a few changes. Firstly, the road has been changed to more closely resemble its original design. The giant icicles in the background no longer have the purple hue added in it's previous version. Penguins will now roam near the start of the track rather than the end. A ramp has been added just before the entrance into thin ice basin, along with the giant watery hole from its previous iteration now being changed to a thick patch of ice. Two Dash Panels have been added onto the ice ramp leading back to the icy road, and two snowmen now mark the off-road shortcut.
Shortcuts[]
- Shortly after the beginning, there is an alternate path you can take where at the end there is a myriad of Dash Panels.✱ for MKSC
- If you have a keen eye, you might spot two alternate snow paths, one at the middle of the track, and one near the end of the track. Take them to save some time.✱ for MKSC
- Use the Dash Panels to gain some speed, then take a Mini Ramp over a wall to save time. This shortcut is also possible in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version, although the mini ramp and the dash panel have been removed and the wall is now open, similar to the notorious Mario Circuit 3 shortcut.✱ for all games
- If you have a mushroom, you can use it to cut over a large portion of the track, jumping right from the icy sloped terrain right onto the thin ice basin if done correctly.✱ for MK8
- Near the finish line, there is a shortcut you could perform either with a mushroom or without, that will cut a small portion of the last turn toward the finish line (For MK8DX and MKT).
