The Standard MR (スタンダードMR Sutandādo MR) is Mario's standard Kart in Mario Kart DS. This is one of three karts Mario has in the game, with his two Exclusive karts being the B Dasher and the Shooting Star.

The kart features a red frame, to match Mario's cap and shirt, and the default emblem is Mario's signature red "M", which is the same one on his cap (unless the player changes the emblem). This is also one of the 16 karts available from the start.
During gameplay, the Standard MR is open to Mario only. However, by completing all cups in Mirror Mode, any character can use this kart.
Mission Mode[]
The Standard MR is used with Mario in several different missions, such as Missions 1-1, 1-8, 2-Boss, 3-8, 4-3, 5-5, 5-8, 6-4, 7-2, 7-6 and 7-Boss.

The Standard MR has average stats across the board, with a bias towards speed and acceleration. It has no particular strengths or weaknesses.
The Standard MR shares its speed with Daisy's Standard DS, its weight is equivalent to all other Standard karts, and its handling and drift attributes are shared with Waluigi's Standard WL.
When used with Mario, its weight total adds up to 64, which is equivalent to Luigi's Standard LG (when used with Luigi), Donkey Kong's Wildlife (when used with Donkey Kong) and Waluigi's Gold Mantis (when used with Waluigi).
