Super Thwomp is Under Construction
This article is under construction. Please excuse its informal appearance while it is being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible!
Think the Thwomps in Bowser's Castle are difficult to dodge? Well, a Super Thwomp (スーパースワンプ) isn't much more accessible to avoid! These large glistening stones appear only in the original Super Mario Kart incarnation of Rainbow Road (and its remakes). As rare as they are though, Super Thwomps are still extremely feared by Mario Kart players, as they not only smash them but also knocks them over with just one touch.

Trivia![]
- Likely because of hardware limitations, the Mario Kart: Super Circuit version of SNES Rainbow Road did not include Super Thwomps.
- The newer-designed Super Thwomps look like they have been enhanced by a Starman. This would explain their ability to spin opponents around easily.
- The Thwomps in the Bowser's Castle of Mario Kart Double Dash!! can spin over racers very similarly to a Super Thwomp but they don't slow them down as tremendously.
- The Super Thwomps in Mario Kart 7 are the only Thwomps to have acute spikes on them making them look far more threatening, this feature was removed in Mario Kart 8/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
- The Mega Thwomp from Thwomp Desert and the New Super Mario Bros. series is sometimes referred to as a Super Thwomp and due to this, the two are sometimes confused.
