Toad Circuit is the introductory course of Mario Kart 7, which makes it first track of the Mushroom Cup for that game. A few years later, it would reappear as a retro track in Mario Kart Tour upon the game's release, being added as part of the game's first tour, the New York Tour. Not long after, it appears once again in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass DLC, placed as the second track of the Golden Dash Cup.
Continuing the legacy of all circuits appearing at the start of the game, this Toad Circuit is a fairly simple track with no tricky challenges/obstacles and is owned by Toad. Giant Toad-styled balloons are strung up around the track, which is what the circuit's name is based on.
Layout[]
Mario Kart 7[]
As with the majority of starter courses, this course offers a relatively simple layout in order to properly introduce players to the mechanics of the game. As stated before, this track is primarily themed around Toad, with three giant Toad balloons colored red, blue, and yellow, stringed throughout the track. As well as this, many Mushroom-type structures and houses can be seen along the track. A large stadium filled with spectators can also be seen in the background of the course, near the end of the track. The course starts off with a simple straightaway leading over a small road bridge with red girders in the middle of it. This then leads to a prolonged 270 degree right turn curving slightly downward through the track, eventually taking you toward the bridge that you traveled over just beforehand. Here, a few cones and two Dash Panels parallel to each other are present on the road, which will speed up your journey under the bridge if taken. Alternatively, on the second lap onward, a Glide Panel will open up, making you able to fly over the bridge instead. Either way, the players end up on the same path towards a tunnel. Once inside, you take a short 180 degree turn before getting shot back out the tunnel. Afterwards, you travel down a winding road before reaching the final big turn of the track, bypassing the huge grandstand before being lead back to the Finish Line.
Mario Kart Tour[]
This starter course from Mario Kart 7 makes its first reappearance as part of the first tour of Mario Kart Tour, being the New York Tour. This course overall is very similar to its original iteration, with only minor gameplay and aesthetical changes and differences. For starters, the starting banner has been updated, as with most tracks returning in Mario Kart Tour. It features a refreshed design with red text sporting the modern Mario Kart logo, along with a yellow background with a subtle checkered pattern. Along with this, the blue and yellow checkered pattern lining the edges of the track at the start of the course has noticeably been removed, replaced with grass. Other than that, not much else has changed aesthetically. The only notable gameplay change is the fact that the Glide Panel ramp is only accessible on one lap now as opposed to two, due to the number of laps being shorter all around for Mario Kart Tour.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
A couple of short years afterwards, Toad Circuit returns as one of the eight courses in Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, appearing as the second course of the Golden Dash Cup. Once again, this course still keeps it's general aesthetic and gameplay from the 7 and especially Tour versions of the course, though with improved upon lighting and texturing since the Tour iteration. The starting area now features confetti much like Mario Kart Stadium from this game, along with more spectators all around. Mario Kart TV trucks and tire obstacles have been added around the course, among other things. The Glide Panel ramp has reverted to how it used to act back in the original version of the track.
Hazards/Obstacles[]
Shortcuts[]
- After exiting the tunnel, players can cut off the turn that is after you exit the tunnel. This shortcut is better with a Mushroom or power item.
- One can cut off the final turn by boosting with a Mushroom or using any power item. It is easy to notice the shortcut because there are pipes in the sand.

When the time gets 00:39:000, the Glider Ramp will open. It is possible to glide over to the tunnel entrance and get stuck on the tunnel.✱ for MK7
Trivia![]
- The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place winners of a Grand Prix do a victory lap on Toad Circuit, with 2nd and 3rd driving and 1st gliding in, victorious.
- This is the shortest 3DS track of Mario Kart 7.
- This course is atypical from most other starting circuits; usually, those have the namesake of, or are related to Luigi.
- It also shares this distinction with Peach Circuit from Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and Figure-8 Circuit from Mario Kart DS which also broke the pattern.
- There are 29 obtainable coins on this course.
- It has a very similar shape (Figure 8 with a "kink" on the final loop) to Mario Circuit from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
- On Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Donkey Kong is playing this course on his Nintendo 3DS. You can tell by the music (Mario Circuit also has the same music, but the cheering crowd on DK's 3DS is exclusive to Toad Circuit.)
- You don't have to be on the 2nd lap for the Glider Ramp to open. It opens when the time is 00:39:000.
- This is the first Toad-themed course in Mario Kart that is a circuit.
- This is the only nitro track in Mario Kart 7 to start with the letter "T".
- This track greatly reassembles the real life Fiorano Circuit by it's layout, but without a straight after the U turn.
