An Unlockable Kart is a hidden kart that need to be unlocked under certain conditions. These are the hidden Karts. (Note: There are no unlockable karts or characters in Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, and Mario Kart: Super Circuit.)

Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]

Kart Unlock criteria Note
Toad Kart Complete the Special Cup on 100cc with a 1st-place win. Unlocking this kart also unlocks Toad and Toadette.
Toadette Kart Complete the Mushroom Cup on Mirror Mode with a 1st-place win. Toadette's version of the Toad Kart, but with a different color and stat changes.
Piranha Pipes Complete the Star Cup on Mirror Mode with a 1st-place win. Unlocking this kart also unlocks Petey Piranha and King Boo.
Boo Pipes Complete the Special Cup on Mirror Mode with a 1st-place win. King Boo's version of the Piranha Pipes, but with altered stats.
Turbo Birdo Complete the Flower Cup on 150cc with a 1st-place win. Similar to the Turbo Yoshi, but is modeled after Birdo.
Bullet Blaster Complete the Special Cup on 50cc with a 1st-place win. Bowser Jr.'s signature kart.
Barrel Train Complete the Star Cup on 150cc with a 1st-place win. Diddy Kong's signature kart. Known for its weak traction and high speed.
Green Fire Complete the Mushroom Cup on 50cc with a 1st-place win. Luigi's version of Mario's Red Fire.
Para Wing Complete the Star Cup on 50cc with a 1st-place win. Paratroopa's version of Koopa Troopa's Koopa Dasher.
Rattle Buggy Complete the Mushroom Cup on 100cc with a 1st-place win. Baby Luigi's version of Baby Mario's Goo-Goo Buggy.
Bloom Coach Complete the Flower Cup on 50cc with a 1st-place win. Princess Daisy's version of Princess Peach's Heart Coach.
Waluigi Racer Complete the Flower Cup on 100cc. Waluigi's signature kart. It has a wide hitbox, making it an easy target for oncoming items or those lying about.
Parade Kart Complete the All-Cup Tour on Mirror Mode with a 1st-place win. Can be driven by any weight class.

Mario Kart DS[]

When the player collects trophies on the end cups of each of the engine classes, all karts will be available to each character.


Kart Standard criteria Notes
Shooting Star Place 1st in the 100cc Special Cup in the Nitro Grand Prix. Mario's tertiary kart. It resembles its namesake and has good speed and acceleration, but low weight and items.
Streamliner Luigi's tertiary kart. It is based on a 1970s Porsche 917/10 Can-Am prototype. It has strong general stats, but low drifting.
Light Tripper Princess Peach's tertiary kart. It has strong acceleration and drifting, but low weight and items.
Cucumber Yoshi's tertiary kart. It resembles a sandrail. It has strong acceleration, weight, handling and items, average speed, but weak drifting.
4-Wheel Cradle Toad's tertiary karts. Has good acceleration and items, but low speed.
Wildlife Donkey Kong's tertiary kart. The design is a reference to the 1940s vehicle Jeep CJ-3A. It has good speed and drifting, but low handling and items.
Dragonfly Wario's tertiary vehicle. It is based on a tractor. It has strong speed, weight, and items, but weak acceleration, handling, and drifting.
Hurricane Bowser's tertiary kart. It is based on the Koopa Clown Car, but in the form of an airplane. It has similar stats to the Dragonfly, but instead has strong drifting and weak items.
Light Dancer Princess Daisy's tertiary kart. It is similar in design to the Light Tripper, but red in color. It has strong speed, acceleration, and drifting, but low weight, handling, and items.
Dry Bomber Dry Bones's tertiary kart. It is based on a desert tank. This kart has high off-road and mini-turbo unlike other karts.
Zipper Waluigi's tertiary kart. It resembles a motorcycle and is known for being the first bike-styled vehicle to appear in the Mario Kart series.
ROB-LGS R.O.B.'s tertiary kart. It resembles a pair of legs, with two small wheels in the front and a big wheel in the rear.
Power Flower Unlocked alongside Daisy upon winning a gold trophy for the 50cc Lightning Cup. Daisy's primary kart.
Standard DS Daisy's standard kart. Has strong drifting, but weak handling.
Gold Mantis Unlocked alongside Waluigi after winning the 100cc Lightning Cup. Waluigi's primary kart. It resembles an excavator, referencing Waluigi's "gold digger" personality. It has good speed, but low items.
Standard WL Waluigi's standard kart.
Banisher Unlocked alongside Dry Bones after winning the 50cc Special Cup. Dry Bones's standard kart. It is an off-road buggy kart in shape of Dry Bones himself. It has strong acceleration, handling, and a good selection of items, but low speed.
Standard DB Dry Bones's standard kart.
ROB-BLS Unlocked alongside R.O.B. after getting gold trophies across either the Nitro or Retro Grand Prix cups in all engine classes. R.O.B.'s primary kart. It is based on the peripheral used by the actual R.O.B. accessory to play Stack-Up. It has strong speed, weight, and handling, but low drifting and a small selection of items.

Tiny Titan Win 50 online races Play 1,200 races Also known as the Rally Romper in PAL regions. The kart's design is a reference to the Monster from Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally.
Blue Falcon Win the Lightning Cup in Mirror Mode Play 4,200 races Based on Captain Falcon's vehicle of the same name from the F-Zero series. It later reappears in Mario Kart 8 as part of "The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8" bundle.
Super Blooper Win the Leaf Cup on 50cc Play 300 races The wings and tentacles on this kart move when you boost, as if it appears to be swimming.
Daytripper Win the Leaf Cup on 150cc Play 2,700 races The name is a reference to the Beatles song "Day Tripper". Also known as Royal Racer in PAL regions.
Sprinter Unlock 24 Expert Staff Ghosts in Time Trials or win 3,000 online races Play 4,650 races Also known as B Dasher Mk 2 in PAL regions. The kart is based on a modern Formula One car.
Piranha Prowler Win the Special Cup on 50cc Play 600 races Based on the Piranha Plant, mainly Petey Piranha. When you boost, do a Trick, or fly out of a Barrel Cannon, the kart's mouth moves.
Jetsetter Get a one-star rank or better for all cups in the Retro Grand Prix on 150cc Play 4,500 races The kart is based on a Le Mans Prototype racecar. Also known as the Aero Glider in PAL regions.
Honeycoupe Win the Lightning Cup on 150cc Play 3,000 races Based on the Dino 206 SP, a prototype sports car made by Ferrari and resembles the Parade Kart. Also known as the Dragonetti in PAL regions.

Quacker Win the 150cc Star Cup Play 2,400 races Bike design is a reference to a rubber ducky. When used by Toad, it has the best acceleration in the game.
Magikruser Complete 8 courses in Time Trials Play 900 races It is based on the Magikoopa enemy, specifically Kamek. When used by Toadette, it has the best off-road in the game.
Jet Bubble Win the Leaf Cup on Mirror Mode Play 3,900 races Has fairly balanced stats. Known as the Bubble Bike in British English.
Zip Zip Win the 100cc Lightning Cup Play 2,100 races Can take off-road shortcuts without any speed loss.
Sneakster Get a one-star rank or better for all Wii Grand Prix cups on 100cc Play 3,300 races Resembles a Harley.
Dolphin Dasher Win the Mirror Mode Star Cup Play 3,750 races References the Dolphin as it originally appeared in Super Mario World.
Shooting Star Win the 100cc Star Cup Play 1,500 races It is one of the few vehicles to change design depending on the driver using it. Known as the Twinkle Star in Japanese and British English.
Spear Unlock 12 Expert Staff Ghosts Play 3,600 races. Known as the Torpedo in British English.
Phantom Win the Special Cup in Mirror Mode Play 4,050 races The design is a reference to the Honda Gold Wing, but with a styled boot and fin attachments.
