Welcome to a new series called Concepts for the Next Mario Kart. While this is technically me predicting the next Mario Kart, I don't expect all of these to be in the game, so I'm naming it Concepts. I started this back in 2017, but it's outdated as it has some choices I don't agree with anymore. Please note that I'm not going to include Mario Kart Tour tracks, and I might update this blog in the future. I've said all I needed to say. Let's get to the concepts!
They should remake the courses as they did in Mario Kart 8, where they have many changes and the music is live-orchestrated.
| Shell Cup | Banana Cup | Leaf Cup | Lightning Cup |
|---|---|---|---|
| SNES Donut Plains 2 | Wii Toad's Factory | GBA Sunset Wilds | 3DS Wario Shipyard
3DS Wario's Galleon |
| 3DS Cheep Cheep Lagoon
3DS Cheep Cheep Cape |
Wii U Shy Guy Falls | SNES Vanilla Lake 1 | Wii U Electrodrome |
| DS Mario Circuit | N64 Wario Stadium | GCN Mushroom City | GCN Bowser's Castle |
| Wii U Sweet Sweet Kingdom | 3DS Maka Wuhu
3DS Wuhu Mountain Loop |
Wii U Sunshine Airport | GBA Rainbow Road |
Donut Plains 2 is a basic course that could work here. Also, the ability to drive through the lake of water would be pretty cool.
Cheep Cheep Lagoon is a course that is a little forgotten. You drive through the lagoon filled with Cheep Cheeps and all that stuff. There's not that much that would need to be changed here besides updated graphics.
Yeah, I'm only picking one DS course. I've already predicted a Bowser's Castle and a Rainbow Road, and I don't think they would add Mario Circuit and Figure-8 Circuit. However, in my opinion, DS Mario Circuit is one of the better Mario Circuits.
Sweet Sweet Kingdom is another reasonably basic course that I like. Driving through orange juice never felt so good. Or is it soda? I don't know.
Toad's Factory is a fan-favorite course, so I had to add it here. Plus, it's based on my favorite Mario character. Maybe they could add a ramp next to a lake so you can take a shortcut and a glider ramp before the last mud section.
Shy Guy Falls is Yoshi Falls, but fun and done right. You drive on waterfalls, and I like it.
N64 Wario Stadium is the only course from Mario Kart 64 that hasn't been remade yet, not even in Mario Kart Tour, so they might as well bring it here, despite me not being a massive fan of it.
As a Wii Sports Resort fan, I want Maka Wuhu to return. However, I consider it more interesting than Wuhu Loop, so I chose Maka Wuhu instead. They're both great courses, though.
People say Sunset Wilds is underrated, but I hear many people say that, so I'm not sure if it's entirely underrated. I still like it, though. But for some reason, Mario Kart Tour changed its layout of it. At least it's not as different as Cheep Cheep Island; the design looks COMPLETELY different there.
Vanilla Lake 1 was remade in Mario Kart Tour, but I'd like to see it in a non-spinoff Mario Kart. They could do the same thing as GCN Sherbet Land, where you drive through an underwater section and come out the other side.
Mushroom City is a track that I don't remember that much, but I remember liking it. In my opinion, it's better than Mushroom Bridge.
Sunshine Airport is still a favorite of mine. I enjoy driving through an airport. I can't think of anything that would need to be changed here.
It's a bit weird for me to choose two Wario tracks, but I'm just going to use the excuse that I ran out of retro tracks to pick. However, I still like Wario Shipyard, and although it's another forgotten track from Mario Kart 7, I think it could work well.
Electrodrome is a nightclub where Koopa Troopas and Shy Guys dance, and it's incredible. Where are the Toads, though? There is no doubt that I want this one to return.
While not my favorite Bowser's Castle, GCN Bowser's Castle is a Bowser's Castle track that I would like to see return. But, no one mentions the purple liquid near the start of the course. What is that?
They seem to be following a pattern with the Rainbow Roads, so I imagine that the next Mario Kart will get GBA Rainbow Road unless Nintendo is just trolling us. I wonder how they would handle the yellow ramps, though. I hope they don't have them entirely because you can use them to skip massive chunks of the course.
Now for some tracks that I want for potential DLC. I will be picking eight tracks here, in no particular order.
| Wii Moonview Highway | GBA Riverside Park | Wii DK Summit
Wii DK's Snowboard Cross |
GBA Boo Lake |
| DS Airship Fortress | GCN Daisy Cruiser | SNES Bowser Castle 3 | N64 Kalamari Desert |
Moonview Highway is a chaotic highway course, the most chaotic highway course. I'd like to see it return.
Well, it looks like I am choosing two Mario Kart DS courses! Airship Fortress is a course that many people love, and I love it too. So, I had to include it here.
Riverside Park is a surprisingly good jungle course that I'm honestly surprised hasn't been remade yet. They could change the ending jump to a gliding section.
Daisy Cruiser is a track that doesn't need to be changed much. However, I find the Mario Kart 7 version to be more exciting, so maybe it should be based on that.
DK Summit is a better track than DK Mountain, in my opinion. However, even though I would like to see it back, I don't know how they would make the last section work because you essentially need to use the half-pipes to make progress. So either they would have to bring the half-pipes back or use something else.
I picked SNES Bowser Castle 3 because they have never remade a Bowser Castle from the SNES, including Mario Kart Tour. So, could you remake it already? Please? I don't even care if it's not Bowser Castle 3; I want one SNES Bowser Castle to return.
I don't think Boo Lake is the most exciting ghost course, but I've always wanted to see this return for some reason. If they remake this track, they have to add a lake, similar to Banshee Boardwalk. Like seriously, where's the lake, Nintendo? All I see is a bottomless pit!
Kalamari Desert is not my favorite desert course, but I wanted to bring back multiple N64 tracks, not just one. It needs some changes though as it is a very flat track, and besides the train, there are not many exciting things about it.
Stay tuned, ladies and gentlemen! In the next part, I'm going to be talking about characters.
