The vehicle counterparts, also known as vehicle sets and vehicle groups, are vehicles that first appeared in Mario Kart Wii. They are vehicles that have similar stats to that counterpart.

- Kart/Bike: A bike or kart counterpart in the same size class and group.
- Group: A counterpart from a different group, whether they are in the same weight class or not.

- All of the Standard vehicles are pairs of vehicles.
- The middleweight vehicles are the only vehicles in this class where they do not go through a design change rather than a palette swap.
- This class also has the highest amount of vehicles in which they are given a name in British English, at 7 vehicles.
- The Classic Dragster, Super Blooper, Daytripper, Sprinter, Sugarscoot, Zip Zip and Sneakester are known in the British and Oceanic English versions of the game as Nostalgia 1, Turbo Blooper, Royal Racer, B Dasher Mk. 2, Rapide and Nitrocycle, respectively.
- The middleweight vehicles are the only vehicles in this class where they do not go through a design change rather than a palette swap.
- The Cheep Charger, Quacker, Super Blooper, and Dolphin Dasher are water-related vehicles, as with the Flame Flyer and Flame Runner in which they are fire-related vehicles.
- The Magikruiser, along with the Super Blooper and Dolphin Dasher, are the only vehicles to be based on a creature from the Super Mario series.
- The Daytripper and Sugarscoot are the only pair of vehicles in which one is initially unlocked from the start while the other must be unlocked.
- The Sugarscoot is unlocked from the start and the Daytripper is unlockable.
- The Daytripper is also the signature vehicle of Princess Peach, while the Sugarscoot is the signature vehicle of Birdo.
- The Offroader is Donkey Kong's signature vehicle, the Wario Bike is Wario's signature vehicle, the Flame Flyer is Waluigi's signature vehicle, the Flame Runner is Bowser's signature vehicle, the Jetsetter is Funky Kong's signature vehicle, the Spear is Dry Bowser's signature vehicle, and the Shooting Star is Rosalina's signature vehicle.
- Since all bikes can wheelie, their speed stat is lower compared to their respective kart counterpart by 2.
- Since all karts have an orange mini-turbo, their mini-turbo stat is lower compared to their respective bike counterpart by 2 or 3.
