Yoshi's Island is a track based off the game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and was released in Wave 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC on March 9th, as the fourth and final track of the Fruit Cup. It also made another appearance in Mario Kart Tour as part of the 2023 Yoshi Tour. This course has you race through many locals, featuring a volcano, underwater segment, and a segment that takes place atop some clouds. Like Hyrule Circuit and Animal Crossing, this course has custom Coin designs. Many enemies and creatures native to Yoshi's Island such as Goonies, Mufti Guys, and a Nep-Enut can be seen around the course.
Layout[]
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
The race has you start out right under Yoshi's House, surrounded in a field inspired by World 1 from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Here, Poochy, Yoshi's dog, can be seen off to the right of the starting line on a mailbox, where he does various actions throughout the race. The starting banner itself features the Yoshi's Island logo instead of the Mario Kart one, akin to the crossover tracks seen in the base game.

From there, Players will proceed to drive over a small bridge, which heads into a windy path with Stilt Guys and Huffin Puffins acting as obstacles; Mufti Guys and Incoming Chomps can also be seen in the background. This all takes you under a tree branch which sports a rather hungry Piranha Plant, of which makes noises like the ones from the Yoshi's Island games. You then jump off a ramp into a water section, of which closely resembles both World 2 and World 3 in terms of design. Sidesteppers are present here, presumably taking the role of Clawdaddies, and they act as obstacles in this section. After this, you take a left to enter a half-submerged castle for a brief period, before exiting into a small cave section. Coming out of the cave, you take a long left spiral up a giant volcano, like the one seen in World 6. A glider ramp is present at the tip of the volcano, and takes you into a cloud section, which is above snow-capped mountains resembling that of World 5 from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Once at the cloud section, you take a ramp into a sharp right turn which takes you toward another glider ramp. In this final glider section, players can try to hit a Winged Cloud, which, when hit, can open up an alternate red path that will take a much tighter line around the final turn. Hitting this is no easy task though, as it moves quite erratically, making this a hard to hit target if playing on Time Trials. Once landing though, players will take an over 180 degree right turn toward the finish, though taking the red path will lead you into a GOAL! Ring just before the finish line, of which will grant you Coins.

This track makes another appearance in Mario Kart Tour as part of the 2023 Yoshi Tour. It much the same as it was before, though it does go with some aesthetic and gameplay changes. For starters, Poochy can no longer be seen on the mailbox, and the Coins seen on the course are no longer Yoshi themed. Snowfall has also been added to the volcano section, furthering the idea that you above World 5 from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. The wooden ramp seen once you first enter the cloud section has been removed in favor of the cloud that it was on acting as a Trampoline Mushroom. The Winged Cloud in the final glide section is now stationary, making it an easier target, and along with that, the red path appears more slowly than before.
Shortcuts[]
- A bit after the start of the course, you can use a mushroom or power item to blast through some the orange colored off-road.
- A small corner cut is present inside the cave section, use a mushroom or power item to save some time.
- Once at the volcano, a giant patch of snow is present off to your left side. Using a mushroom or power item, you can cut off a sizeable amount of the turn up the volcano.
- Hitting the Winged Cloud in the final glide section will enable you to take an alternate red path on the final turn of the track, of which will take a much tighter line.
- If you aren't able to make it onto the red path, a large amount of off-road is still present on the final turn, use a mushroom or power item in order to utilize this cut.

Trivia![]
- The "Yoshi" Coins seen in this course are the fourth type of unique Coin seen in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the first being the Rupees from Hyrule Circuit, the second being the Bells from Animal Crossing, and the third being the Cash from Urchin Underpass.
- Despite the abundance of crossover courses, this track is the only course in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to feature a custom fanfare after race completion, replacing the three that usually play depending on what placement you receive.
- This is the last track in the Mario Kart series when sorted in alphabetical order.
